Player Skill Rating - (Listed in alphabetical order, by first names)INTRODUCTION TO THE PLAYER SKILL RATINGS FOR VVS DARTS
Date: ____7-09-08___ As always, Thank You for your participation in VVS Dart Leagues! The Player Skill Ratings System for our dart league is modeled after the system that the N.D.A. put in place in 1997. This Ratings System could have the greatest positive impact for VVS Dart Leagues of any idea that we have introduced to Nebraska Darts over the last several years! How is the PSR list for VVS Darts used? The PSR (Player Skill Rating) will tell players their exact rating when it comes time to assemble teams for upcoming leagues if they want to fit under a certain Team Cap. It is important to note that while many leagues have a Team or Player Cap to help create parity, VVS Darts always offers some Divisions that allow players to play with whoever they wish! Certain divisions have a limit on how good subs coming in can be. To check on a player all we need to do is look at the list.
What is the advantage in this PSR System? VVS Darters will now be rated on what they have shown they are capable of throwing for averages! Not how bad you can throw to bring your average down. When did the PSR go into effect? The current list of players was started at the completion of the 95-96 VVS League Season and includes all leagues completed thereafter. How often will the PSR be updated? At the conclusion of every league that runs at least 8 weeks. What requirements have to be met to be rated? You must play a minimum of 24 games in one season of one division (over at least 8 league nights) of a particular league type (301 OI-OO or Cricket 200) The HIGHEST Points Per Dart or Marks Per Round that you achieve will be your new Player Skill Rating for the next year. Your Player Skill Rating will not decrease for 1 year from the date that it is established ! Great! I just had the league of my life, am I stuck with that high PSR until the end of time? No! If a player sits out for one year or shoots under his / her PSR for one year; the next league (following that one year period) in which he / she plays a minimum of 24 games over at least eight league nights will establish a new PSR. An interesting point to observe is that generally a player’s highest PSR is attained in the highest skilled leagues. Do you always want to assemble a team that fits under a team cap or into a lower level so you can win your games or do you want to improve your dart skills? The truth in any sport is that you will only improve your skills by competing with players above your level. How will a player whose name is not on the list be figured in? New players or players who did not play enough games to have a PSR will be figured in the old fashioned way. VVS has all of the old stats from previous leagues and players will be rated as accurately as possible. Unknown new players will be figured at approximately: Male - 18.0 PPD and 1.8 MPR, Female - 16.0 PPD and 1.6 MPR. There are currently more than 1300 players listed. Is this the PSR that will be used when we go to Team Dart in Vegas? No! The N.D.A. will use your highest PSR from the current season for placement at their tournaments. All of our stats are on file with the N.D.A. as required by the Association. All Vegas players must have a PSR from that current Fall / Winter season. The VVS PSR is being put in place to improve our leagues and get more darters involved! Who do I call to find out a player’s rating or get a question answered? Daytime call Kim at VVS Darts - 1 (888) 267-5546; Nights call Marshall at VVS Darts - 1 (800) 662-2924
