These rules have been accepted by all players and are mandatory. 2. Good Sportsmanship will prevail at all times. 3. ALL PLAYERS MUST BE OF LEGAL DRINKING AGE. 4. No Kibitzing or harassment from players or spectators will be tolerated. No foul or abusive language will be tolerated. ANY PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AND THE PLAYER OR TEAM WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE LEAGUE AND FORFEIT ALL WINS AND MONIES PAID. Abuse of equipment, poor sportsmanship, or any conduct that is detrimental to the welfare of VVS Dart League may be grounds for forfeiture of a game, a match, or expulsion from the league. A machine tilt is a loss of game. 5. Players pay a nightly fee of $4/person (unless noted otherwise on the pre-season flyer and schedule) plus the cost of the dart games. There is a $10 charge on each returned check. 6. Individual player sanction fees are paid once a year only (based on June 1 - May 31 of the following year) with the status and amount posted on the schedule. All players must be sanctioned (including all subs). 7. Sanction deadlines are determined each season and are posted on the league schedule. 8. Team registration fees are posted on league announcement and are due at the beginning of the season. 9. All schedules will be posted by the League Director. Attention: All matches must be played in the location where they are scheduled. Matches not played in the correct location will result in a forfeit for both teams unless they agree to replay the match in the proper location. The League Director is the only person that can authorize schedule changes! 10. League Director may schedule a "make-up" upon mutual consent of both captains before the match. This must be arranged with VVS and matches must be made up within a two week time period. League Director's decisions on these matters are final. 11. Game time is set by the League Director and is posted on the season schedule. Teams will have 15 minutes (regular time) to show. 12. Teams will get one point per win. Standings are based on games won. If two or more teams are tied in wins, a Play-Off will be arranged by VVS at a neutral site. This situation is pertinent only if trophy position or championship is at stake. If two teams tie for First Place a "co-championship" can be declared and duplicate trophies awarded if both teams agree. 13. Prize money will be paid back to each team on a per win basis. 14. Free Award Pins are available by written request only. The Award Pin Request Form can be found in your start-up packet. Each player is allowed one (1) pin per year (June-May) of each type unless otherwise noted on the form. 15. Entire match must be played with the same players once the match begins. Games may also be played with a missing player - the vacant spot is passed and the total opening score will show throughout the game. 16. Substitute Rule: A team consists of four regular players (except 2-player leagues) and 1-6 subs. A 4-player team can add two players maximum to their roster on a given night. A 2-player team can add one. Lincoln subs can shoot for any team from that location within that particular league division. Regular players may shoot for their team only in that particular league division. Once a player has subbed for a location on a particular league night, he is eligible to sub for any team from that location on that night unless he has subbed for a different location in a particular league division on that night. Deadlines: Subs used for either of a team's final two appearances (15-24 week season) or their final appearance (8-14 week season) must have previously played at least one league night that season for that team to be considered as an eligible sub within VVS Guidelines, unless a legitimate hardship arises. Prior approval of VVS is required. 17. A player released from one team wanting to play for another team must have WRITTEN PERMISSION from the team captain to play for another team before you shoot. 18. At no time will a player be allowed to compete on more than one team (within a particular league type) at the VVS City Tournament regardless of divisional separations. Qualify in a different league type if you wish to play more than one team event in the tournament. 19. ANY TEAM THAT FORFEITS A MATCH EITHER OF THE FINAL TWO WEEKS OF A SEASON WILL LOSE 1/2 OF THE PRIZE MONEY THEY WOULD HAVE WON. Try to play the match at all costs. Call VVS for a hardship ruling to get a sub if after the sub deadline. A make-up match must be scheduled before the match if both teams agree. 20. Darts must meet the following specifications: (A) Dart can not exceed 8" in total length (flight included). Flights may be no wider than 3/4" measured from shaft to flight edge, and may not have more than four "wings". (B) Complete dart must not exceed eighteen grams in weight. Games in which illegal darts were used will be forfeited if discovered and verified during a match. A protest of illegal darts will not be allowed once the match is completed. 21. Throw line is to be set with the front edge of the line (closest to the machine) exactly 8' measured horizontally from the face of the board. All players must throw from behind the front edge of the throw line. Players may lean over the line, but must not touch the floor beyond the throw line before the dart scores. 22. If either foot crosses the throw line prior to the game recording the score of the dart, it constitutes a foul. Minor foot foul (less than 2" over) deserves first warning to a player. Major or repeated foot foul: (1) Shooter may not win match in a round where foul occurred. (2) His/her partner may not win match on his/her next turn. (3) Shooter will lose three darts on his/her next turn.23. Team -01 Games: If player 1 goes out and player 3's score is higher than players 2 and 4 combined, then players 1 and 3 would lose the game even though player 1 had finished the game. If you are in a position of losing the game by going out, you may pass your turn or shoot until your score is very low and then pass. 27. Double Bull is active for all Cricket and 301 DI-DO games. Single Bull is active for 301 OI-OO games. 28. Any dart thrown counts as a dart thrown. 29. The score recorded by the machine is the score that the player receives. The players accept that the machine is always right. The only exception will be on the "Last Dart-Winning Dart" that meets the following criteria: a. The "Last Dart-Winning Dart" must stick. b. The machine was displaying the "Throw Darts" message and all other rules were followed. Then, no matter if the machine fails to score, or scores incorrectly, the player/team will be credited with the win in that game. Example: Player's score is 24 at the beginning of their turn. Their first dart hits and sticks in the single 9 but does not register or score. Their second dart scores a single 15, leaving the player on 9. The third dart is then thrown in the single 9, but does not register or score. Since it was the "Last Dart-Winning Dart", that player/team wins the game. If the dart machine breaks down during your league match so that play cannot continue, do not mess with the machine as you may get out of league mode. Call VVS Service immediately and wait for the technician to show up. After ten minutes the machine will display "League Play Has Been Interrupted". That screen will remain on until the service technician arrives and repairs the problem. You will then need to push the correct button to continue league play. The machine will reset the game that was interrupted and you will replay that game. Any machine reset due to intentional or non-intentional player action shall result in loss of game for the team committing the action. Captains may NEVER move a match to a different location without League Director approval. 30. A dart that sticks, but does not score, may NOT be manually scored. 31. Teams going out on a tie, win. 32. It is each player's responsibility to see that the machine is displaying the appropriate player's number prior to throwing any darts. 33. Players throwing out of turn as dictated by match schedule. (wrong player in a game) (A) If all players have thrown three darts (completed first turn) foul represents loss of game. (B) If all players have not thrown three darts, game will be started over, with team committing the foul paying the quarters to restart the game. 34. If the player commits a foul while taking the game out, it is a loss of game. 35. A Rules Committee of three will be elected from the players in the league. Their duty is to render decisions on protests, help run any league meetings, and aid in the organization of the league. 36. Protest Procedure (1) Authority to protest rests with the captain. (2) Protest must be in writing and be presented to VVS within 48 hours after the match. (3) Protest shall include a $20 deposit. Protester loses the deposit if he/she loses the protest. The $20 is placed in the league fund. If protester wins, his deposit is returned. (4) VVS will review the protest and confer with both team captains involved. A meeting with the Rules Committee will be scheduled to resolve the protest if necessary. (5) The Rules Committee decision will be rendered in writing to the parties involved. Signatures by each party will be required at the time the decision is rendered to signify acceptance or rejection of the decision. A non-signature is the same as acceptance. If you reject the decision, you may appeal to the captains of your division, but this appeal must be accompanied with an additional $50. A two-thirds majority vote is required to reverse a Rules Committee decision. If you win your appeal, the $50 will be refunded. Decision of league captains is final. VVS has the authority to disregard any protest not properly presented. 37. It is impossible to list rules to cover every situation. If a problem arises during your match it should be resolved by the two team captains. If you can't resolve the problem, call the League Director for a ruling (as a last resort) so that you can continue to play. REMEMBER-THINK SPORTSMANSHIP! HAVE FUN! GOOD DARTS TO ALL! |
